Paintless dent removal is not a quick process. Millimeter by millimeter, the original shape is restored. It requires patience, knowledge, and understanding of the process from the technician. All of this allows for correctly reading and releasing the dent without damaging the paint/
Today's client is an electric car, Nissan Leaf. This is perhaps the most popular electric car model. And indeed, it is a compact, convenient, comfortable car, ideal for city conditions and short out-of-town trips. Of course, the main advantage is the cost of "fuel." However, the road is the road, and trouble can happen to any car. Unfortunately, the hero of today's article did not avoid this fate.
The rear door is not just dented; the metal is torn on it, which means the diagnosis is clear: straightening, welding work, and painting. But we managed to save the front door from such global measures.
Despite the apparent simplicity during the external inspection, the dent on the front door turned out to be not simple. Two horizontal creases, in places quite deep. At the end, one deep vertical crease that, crossing both horizontal ones, forms two interconnected cross-shaped creases. And as the apogee of all this, the creases in two places rest against the edge, creating deep stretched dents. In the upper part, the vertical crease rests against the handle, which is also pushed inward at the moment of impact. In the lower part, the vertical crease also "established its own order," as can be seen from the reflections, the entire surface is wavy, that is, disturbed.
In these photos, we see the disassembled door mounted on a special table, that is, prepared for dent removal. The lamp reveals all defects, allowing us to determine the strategy for dent repair. Additional difficulty in dent removal is created by the reinforcements located on the inner central part of the door.
After some time, we get the result. Of course, due to the fact that at the moment of impact the paint was damaged in two places, we see bare metal. The client was warned about this in advance and, instead of traditional straightening and painting, still chose paintless dent removal (PDR). Planning to simply locally touch up the defects and not repaint the entire door. For us, the repair of this door added certain experience in paintless dent removal and brought a sense of satisfaction from victory.
